This sculpture is located in Jubilee Square, just outside of Jubilee Library. The square has a smooth surface and is a wide, expansive space, ideal for wheelchair users.  There are dropped kerbs at the top of Jubilee Street, opposite Wagamama.

Please note that there is a slight hill going down Jubilee Street towards the library. The pavement also has a small step onto the road as you go down the street, so be aware that if you are in a wheelchair, it’ll be better to cross at the top corners (where Jubilee meets North Road). There is also a dropped kerb opposite the square and Rudy’s (by the disabled parking bays), but please be aware of the cycling lane when crossing.

By Bus – The nearest routes that will stop at this sculpture will be the 3X, 20, 37, 37B, 52 and 79 at the ‘North Laine’ stop.

By Train – If you’re arriving via train, the nearest station will be Brighton. There is a step-free access route via the Queens Road exit, around an 8-minute journey across a 650-metre distance.

• Turn left onto North Road from Queens Road and right onto Jubilee Street.
• Please note that the corner when turning onto North Road is quite tight, with both Queens Road and North Road on a slight hill.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from Brighton station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be on Church Street, opposite the Brighton Dome.

There are several Sheffield racks directly opposite Jubilee Square where you are able to lock up your own bicycle.

Noise level – 4/10.

Jubilee Square often has events, meaning that at certain times, the sculpture location may be quite busy. At normal times, expect a steady stream of people passing through the lanes and North Road. Be mindful of traffic noise and sirens as it is in the city centre.

The Jubilee Library is often a quieter space, so if you’d like some down time, the library is open 10am until 5pm Monday- Saturday, and 11am until 2pm on a Sunday.

There are numerous restaurants and bars nearby for refreshments.

NCP Brighton Theatre. 230-metre distance, around a 3-minute journey.

The nearest on-street Blue Badge parking will be opposite Jubilee Square and adjacent to Las Iguanas. You can park here for three hours. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force. You can also pay for free and for an unlimited time in Pay and Display bays.

The nearest public toilets to the sculpture location will be in the Jubilee Library. These toilets are male and female, fully accessible with baby changing facilities.

There is also an on-site adult changing place. This includes an adjustable changing bench, ceiling hoist, peninsular toilet, and height-adjustable washbasin.

This BookBench has a background of a night sky. It is dark blue with cartoon-like stars above some distant mountains in a soft blue at the front of the bench. Around the mountains are some of Guy Parker-Rees’ iconic characters that he has illustrated, including Gerald the Giraffe, Dylan (a stripy dog), and Brave Dave (a small bear). Across the front of the bench, in a gold banner, reads You Are The Star Of Your Own Story Too. At the back of the bench are two mice characters, drawn in Guy’s signature style, curled up reading a book in a hanging nest. Above them, another gold banner reads Cuddle Up With A Book. Small rockets and planets can be seen amongst the stars.
