The sculpture is located outside of the Bandstand on Kings Road, slightly to the left when facing towards the sea. It is easy to access as it is situated on the wide stretch of Kings Road. The Bandstand is located 300 metres to the right of the Life360 when facing towards the sea.

By Bus – The nearest routes that stop by this sculpture will be the 1, 2, 5, 5A, 5B, 6, 46, 49 and 700 at the Norfolk Square stops on Western Road. Please note that there will be a short journey down to the Bandstand from this stop.

By Train – If you’re arriving via train, the nearest station will be Brighton. There is a straightforward, step-free accessible route via Queens Road. The journey is around 1.7km and is around a 25-minute journey. Please note that there are hills leading down towards the seafront:

• If you travel down Queens Road (which turns into West Street) to the seafront, you can then use the accessible crossing outside Odeon to cross onto the upper promenade.
• From here, carry on right for 750 metres until you reach the Bandstand.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from Brighton station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be by the Seafront Peace Statue, to the right of the sculpture when facing towards the sea.

There are Sheffield racks to the right of the sculpture for you to lock up your personal bike.

Noise Levels – 6-7/10.

This side of the seafront is not usually a very busy place and is commonly quieter than by the piers. However, it is on a main road, so be mindful of nearby traffic noise, including sudden sirens and horns.

The pavement along the promenade is wide and smooth, ideal for wheelchair users.

There are numerous bars, cafes, and restaurants nearby.

Regency Square Car Park. 750 metres away, around an 11-minute journey.

• • There is a step-free access route via Regency Square:
    • Turn right onto Kings Road.
    • There is an accessible crossing outside Preston Street to reach the upper Prom. The sculpture will be on your left a few yards down.
  • Blue Badge holders cannot park here for free.
  • 8 disabled bays nearby the exit ramp. There are no lifts available, but there are ramps.
  • From £5.50 for one hour, up to £34.50 for 24 hours.

The nearest Blue Badge on-street parking will be on Canon Place. There are also Blue Badge bays on West Street, 950 metres away, and around a 13-minute journey. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force.

There are public toilets, with male, female, and disabled access a short 600 metre distance from the sculpture. These tend to be open from 8am-6pm.

The nearest changing place facility will be in the Shelter Hall. It is open from 9am until 6pm and includes a height adjustable wall mounted bench with an alarm, privacy screen, shower, colostomy shelf, ceiling hoist and loop hoist, and a height adjustable wash basin. This is a 750-metre distance from the sculpture and around a 10-minute journey.

This BookBench is an abstract piece painted in shades of warm oranges and yellows with splashes of blues and greens weaved throughout. The scene shows the Bandstand at sunset, surrounded by people on the beach, playing table tennis, and in the sea. On the back of the bench, the shades deepen to reds, portraying a beach scene. People sit underneath coloured umbrellas, and the sea is painted in a warm purple.
