The sculpture will be located at the front of Preston Manor on a patch of lawn by the main entrance. There are two entrances to Preston Manor, one on Preston Drove, and the other on Preston Road. Due to it being on a grassy surface, it is not wheelchair accessible close to the sculpture itself. There will be a concrete surface surrounding the grass that is accessible by wheelchair, however.

By Bus – The nearest routes that stop at this sculpture will be the 5, 5A, 5B, 17, 52, 270, 271, 272 and 273 at the ‘Nestor Court’ stop.

By Train Station – If you’re arriving by train, the nearest train station is Preston Park. This is a 650-metre distance and around a 9-minute journey. There is a step-free accessible route towards the sculpture but be mindful of hills and the occasional rough surface:

• Turn right out of the station onto Clermont Terrace.
• Make a left onto Cumberland Road before turning right onto Preston Road.
• Here you can access the manor via Preston Grove or Preston Road.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from Preston Park station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be Preston Park North, along the pedestrian path on the West side of the park.

There are places to lock up your personal bike outside Preston eatery, as well as in cycle hubs in the park itself.

Noise Levels – 2-3/10.

Preston Park is a green space that is well known for its calm atmosphere. However, it is a large space, with an on-site café and sports courts, so it won’t be completely void of activity. Please also note that it is surrounded by busy roads, so be aware of sudden sirens and horns.

The space outside of the manor should not be crowded and should be a quiet area, unless there is a scheduled event happening.

The nearest parking spaces will be the park’s dedicated North (via Preston Drove) or South (junction of Preston Road and Preston Park Avenue) car parks.

• They are open every day 9am to 8pm. The maximum stay is 6 hours, with no return within 4 hours.
• From £1.70 for one hour, up to £8.40 for six hours.

There are also Blue Badge spaces available in these car parks. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force. You can also pay for free and for an unlimited time in Pay and Display bays.

The nearest public toilets will be in Preston Park itself, by the Rotunda Café. These include male, female, disabled access, and a designated changing place. These facilities are open from 10am -6pm. These are a 350-metre distance and around a 5-minute journey.

The changing place requires a RADAR key for access and includes adult sized wall mounted bench which is height adjustable, ceiling hoist and loop hoist, peninsular toilet, height adjustable washbasin, emergency alarm, privacy screen, accessible shower, colostomy shelf.

This BookBench has a pastel background of a sky and grass. Along the bottom of the front of the bench can be seen a delicate assortment of flowers amongst light splatters of paint. A tree can just be seen in the corner hanging over these flowers. The back of the bench shows a multi-coloured brick wall covered with trailing vines that half conceal a small wooden door. A blue sky dotted with clouds hangs over the wall framing a small robin perched on the vines.
