Volunteer with The Story Trail

Volunteer your time with the biggest event in Brighton & Hove this year.

Amaze, your local charity supporting families with disabled children, has partnered with Wild in Art to bring you The Story Trail—a free, fun and family-friendly adventure.

Between September and November 2026, you can uncover a city-wide gallery of more than 30 giant BookBenches. Each one is an open book, designed by a talented local artist and waiting to be discovered.

That’s where you come in.

We’d love you to join our team of brilliant volunteers to help make The Story Trail happen. You can read on for more information about our volunteering opportunities below.

Event volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help at some of our Story Trail events. This may include outreach events ahead of the trail, paint and sips, our farewell weekend and our auction.

Volunteering is flexible around you. Event volunteers will be given the dates of events which they can sign up for. Most events will take place between September – November 2026 though some outreach events will take place before.

Trail guide

Our trail guides will walk round the sculptures and talk to visitors about The Story Trail and Amaze.

As a trail guide, you will:

  • walk one of our guide routes in pairs
  • speak to visitors about The Story Trail and Amaze
  • encourage people to make a donation, or visit our shop
  • explain how people can find other sculptures through the app or map.
