The sculpture is located outside of the Duke of York Picturehouse, to the left of the main entrance, opposite Knight and Knoxley.

There is a drop kerb next to the sculpture, just off Stanley Road that will enable you access to the sculpture itself. There is also an accessible crossing outside the Fire Station that brings you onto the wide pavement on the side of the picture house.

The sculpture itself is on a flat and accessible surface with room around it for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre around the whole sculpture.

By Bus – The nearest routes that stop at this sculpture will be the 5, 5A, 5B, 52, 270, 271, 272 and 273 at ‘Preston Circus Stop H’ and ‘Preston Circus Stop X’.

By Train – If you’re arriving via train the nearest station to the location will be London Road. There is a step-free route, around a 500-metre distance.

• Please note that this route includes steep hills going down towards the sculpture.
• Leave the station via Shaftesbury Place, before turning right onto Ditchling Rise, and right again onto Beaconsfield Road.
• The sculpture will be on your left coming down this road.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from London Road station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be at Preston Circus, on New England Road.

There are Sheffield Racks to lock up your personal bike right next to the sculpture.

Noise Levels – 5/10.

As the sculpture is located on the corner of London Road junction, which can get quite busy with traffic, please be aware that there may be nearby traffic noises, including sudden sirens and horns. The streets leading off of London Road, around the sculpture, such as Beaconsfield Road, will be quieter. There are numerous restaurants/cafes/bars nearby for refreshment.

London Road Car Park. 350 metres away, around a 5-minute journey.

• • There is a step-free, accessible route via Providence Place.
    • Turn left onto Providence Place as you’re coming out of the car park, before turning right onto York Hill.
    • This will take you onto London Road, where you can turn left and find the sculpture by the picture house on your right.
  • 8 Disabled parking spaces on ground floor. Charges apply to Blue Badge holders.
  • From £2 for 1 hour up to £24 for 24 hours.

The nearest on-street Blue Badge parking bay will be located at the top and bottom of Warleigh Road, a short 300 metre distance from the sculpture. Please note that there is a hill leading up to this space. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force. You can also pay for free and for an unlimited time in Pay and Display bays.

The nearest public toilets are in Preston Park. There are male and female general toilets, as well as a general disabled toilet. The Rotunda facilities also offer a fully equipped changing place. These are a 1.1km distance away and around a 16-minute journey.

They are open 10am-6pm in the summer months and 10am-4pm in the winter months. The changing place requires a RADAR key for access and includes an adult sized wall mounted bench which is height adjustable, ceiling hoist and loop hoist, peninsular toilet, height adjustable washbasin, emergency alarm, privacy screen, accessible shower, colostomy shelf.

This BookBench is a vibrant and colourful mix of abstract and geometric shapes. With diamond shapes at the front of the bench, surrounded by diagonal lines, and rectangles, this bench is an explosion of colour. The Art and Believe logo can be seen in the bottom left corner at the front.
