The sculpture will be located along the Mermaid Walk. This is an accessible platform that has a smooth surface and available ramps.

The best way to access the sculpture itself is to use the accessible level 6 crossing in the multi-storey car park.

By Bus – The nearest routes that stop by this sculpture will be the 1X, 7, 21, 23, 47, 52 and City Sightseeing at the ‘Marina Cinema’ stop.

By Train – If you’re arriving via train, the nearest station will be Brighton. It is over an hour pedestrianised journey from the station to the marina with restricted pedestrian access, so using a bus will be the best option.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from Brighton station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be Brighton Marina, located between McDonalds and the multi-storey car park.

There are multiple Sheffield racks across the marina, with some adjacent to the Beryl Bay.

Noise Levels – 4/10

The Marina can be a busy place at times; however, the traffic noise should be quieter than in the city centre. Be aware of pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

There are numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants in the area available for refreshments.

ASDA Car Park. 450-metre distance away, around a 6-minute journey.

• • Step-free access via the Marina Way roundabout:
    • Use the accessible zebra crossing along The Waterfront to the East. This will allow you to use the pedestrian access by ASDA garage to get to Brighton Marina Car Park.
    • From here, go to level 6 and use the step-free pathway.
  • Free parking for 2 hours.

The nearest general public toilets are located on The Boardwalk itself. These are close to the lifts onto the upper level. Look for the level crossing, stay on the right as you look through the marina, toilets are hidden around the back in a small boardwalk arcade. These are male and female with disabled access on the lower level, accessible by lifts. These will be open from 10am until 6pm.

The nearest changing place will be in Marina Studios on Mermaid walk. The nearest fully equipped, registered changing place will be a bit of a distance away on Madeira Drive, The Colonnade, located in a row of small shops. The changing place will be open from 9am until 6pm and includes an adult sized free-standing bench which is height adjustable, ceiling hoist, peninsular toilet and height adjustable washbasin.

The front of this BookBench shows a large open shell with a pearl in the centre. It is painted so that when you take a seat it looks like you are sat in the shell. The top of the bench has a teal background with strands of seaweed and bubbles surrounding the shell. The lower half of the bench has a yellow sandy surface dotted with purple rocks, starfish, and more seaweed. The back of the bench shows three mermaids holding a banner that reads ‘keep our oceans clean.’ There are surrounded by blue sea and a sandy bottom, framed by coral, rocks, bubbles, fronds of seaweed and numerous pink and yellow fish.
