The sculpture will be located inside The Book Nook on First Avenue in Hove. It can be accessed via Church Road if coming from central Brighton and Hove, or via Kingsway if coming from the seafront.

The pavements along First Avenue are generally smooth and are wide enough for two people side by side comfortably.

By Bus – The nearest routes that stop at this sculpture will be the 1, 2, 5, 5A, 5B, 6, 46, 49 and 700 at the ‘Second Avenue’ stop.

By Train – If you’re arriving via train, the nearest station will be Hove. There is a step-free accessible route via Station Approach (turning right when you leave the station onto Goldstone Villas), and is a 1.4km distance, around an 18-minute journey:

• Follow the road to the right down Denmark Villas.
• Turn left at the mini roundabout onto Cromwell Road.
• Turn right onto The Drive (B2185).
• Left onto Eaton Road and right onto Selbourne Road.
• From here you can use the zebra crossing to cross onto First Avenue, directly in front of you.

Trains: Local and national trains are available from Hove station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.

Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay will be at Palmeira Square (if coming from town centre) or Hove Lawns if coming from the seafront.

There are Sheffield racks for you to lock up your personal bike at the top of First Avenue.

Noise Levels – 2-3/10.

As the sculpture is in a suburban part of Hove, the street itself will most likely be quiet and not crowded. However, Church Road is directly adjacent to First Avenue, so please note that there may be traffic noise, including sudden sirens and horns nearby.

There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants nearby.

Norton Road Car Park. 500 metres away, around a 7-minute journey.

• • There is a step-free accessible route via Church Road:
    • Turn right out of the car park onto Norton Road.
    • Turn left onto Church Road and right onto First Avenue.
  • Blue Badge holders can park for free.
  • Some specific disabled bays, but all bays are widened to accept wheelchair access.
  • From £1.60 for an hour, up to £11 for 12 hours.

Tesco Car Park. 850 metres away, around a 12-minute journey.

• • There is a step-free accessible route via Church Road:
    • Leave the car park and head towards the cemetery.
    • From here you can use the dropped kerb to cut down George Street (the heavily spray-painted wall).
    • Turning right onto George Street, turn left onto Church Street and head down until you can cross onto First Avenue.
  • Blue Badge holders get two hours free parking if they register their vehicles at the desk.
  • 30-minutes free parking, or up to two hours if you spend £5 in store.

The nearest Blue Badge on-street parking bay will be on First Avenue itself. There are also on-street Blue Badge bays at the bottom of First Avenue at Queens Gardens. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force.

The nearest public toilets will be at the bottom of First Avenue, the Hove Beach Park Public Toilets. These include male, female, and disabled access facilities, as well as baby-changing facilities. It is 400 metres away, and around a 5-minute journey.

The nearest changing place will be at St Ann’s Well Gardens. It is complete with hoist, adjustable changing bench, height adjustable sink and extra space. Accessible with a RADAR key, the toilet will be open between 10am to 6pm during the summer, and from 10am to 4pm during the winter. This is around a 14-minute journey across a 1.1km distance.
