Books and Basquiat

Designed and executed by our Student Leaders for Arts and Creativity, Priory School’s Book Bench draws inspiration from the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and celebrates a diverse range of favourite authors and literary characters, from Shakespeare and Roald Dahl to The Starlight Rebel and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Can you spot any others?

Accessibility
Accessing the sculpture
The sculpture will be situated in Patcham Library. The entrance to Patcham Library is on Ladies Mile Road.
The street has narrow pavements and expect cars around due to the nearby school. There are accessible crossings and drop kerbs by the entrance. There is a long ramp to enter.
By Bus – Route 5/5A
By Train – If you’re arriving via train, the nearest station to the sculpture will be Preston Park Station. This is a long walk on a main road (approximately 3km).
Public transport
Bus routes 5/5A are regular.
Local and national trains are available from Preston Park station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers.
The nearest Beryl Bay to the sculpture will be on Ladies Mile Road.
There are no cycle racks nearby.

At school start and end times it may be busy in the vicinity.
Parking
Directly outside Patcham Library.
The nearest Blue Badge parking bay is outside the library entrance. Alternatively, you can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force.
Facilities
The nearest public toilets will be within Patcham Library.
The nearest changing place will be at Preston Park. This is a 3km distance and a long journey. We recommend using local bus services to access this Changing place toilet.
