Supporting your young person’s relationships and sexuality
A webinar for parent carers of 16 to 25 year olds with SEND
Talking about relationships and sexuality with your young person who has SEND and/or a learning disability can feel daunting. Where do you even begin? How do you communicate about private topics when language and understanding may be limited? What does consent really mean, and how does the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) apply?
This webinar will help parent carers find a starting point. We’ll look at:
- How to begin conversations about relationships and sexuality in a safe and positive way
- Communicating about feelings and private topics with limited language or understanding
- Useful resources, guides, and support networks for families
- Understanding consent and how the Mental Capacity Act relates to intimate relationships
Our aim is to give parent carers confidence, practical ideas, and tools to help their young people build safe and meaningful relationships.
This webinar will be delivered via Zoom by Dr. Claire Bates from Supported Loving.
The event is open to parent carers of 16-25 year olds in both East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.
