At Wonder Years, we decided to create a bench with things that make us happy! There are so many little things in every day which draw a smile, especially when working with amazing young people! Talking to the children reminds us that we have so much to be grateful for and so many reasons to smile, whether it is spaghetti for dinner, splashing in puddles or dinosaurs! Our bench is a result of every single child and staff member thinking about what makes them happy and then decorating their item for the bench. Putting the images together has definitely made us think happy thoughts, the question is, what would you add?

Accessibility
Accessing the sculpture
The sculpture can be found in the toy museum which is under Brighton Station. Go down the hill of Trafalgar street and it is on your left. Please note the hill is a steep decline and the pavements are narrow. There is also a cycle lane on the right hand pavement which is not totally obvious.
You can also come via North Lane up Trafalgar Street, but this is also hilly.
Public transport
Buses: The nearest routes available are the 1, 7, 24, 26, 3X, 59, CSS, 1, 6, 46, 49 from the Brighton Station stops.
Trains: Local and national trains are available from Brighton station. All platforms and trains are accessible with ramps and extra support available at request. There are also accessible ticket barriers. If you’re arriving from the station, the sculpture is a short distance down Traflagar Street
- Exit the station via the Terminus Road exit
- Take a sharp left on the first road on your left to enter traflagar street
Bikes: The nearest Beryl Bay is Brighton Station.
The nearest place to lock up your own bike will be within the station.
What to expect from the location
Noise Levels – 6-7/10
Brighton Station is a busy area, please be aware that it may be quite noisy approaching the toy museum. Noise from nearby traffic, including sirens and horns, may also be quite loud in this area.
Parking
Trafalgar St Car Park. 150 metres away, around a 3-minute journey.
- Please note that the journey from this car park to the location has significant hills.
- There is a step-free route via Trafalgar Street
- Entrance 1: Blackman Street, Brighton BN1 4DY
- Entrance 2: Whitecross Street, Brighton BN1 4DZ
- 4 disabled parking bays, 2 via each entrance.
- From £4 for 1 hour up to £26 for 24 hours.
You can use a Blue Badge on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours as long as no loading restrictions are in force. You can also park for free and for an unlimited time in Pay and Display bays.
Facilities
The nearest public toilets will be in Brighton Station. These are male, female, and disabled toilets.
A changing place is also available on the east end of the concourse, towards Pret a Manger. A RADAR key is required, or staff are available to help access this on request. This includes a height-adjustable changing bench, a ceiling hoist, a height-adjustable washbasin, and non-slip flooring.
