Join us for a magical after-dark adventure with Once Upon a Trail

Families and friends are being invited to experience The Story Trail in a new way at a special after-dark event this October half term.

Once Upon a Trail, organised by Amaze, takes place on Wednesday 28 October and will transform a selection of The Story Trail’s BookBench sculptures into magical interactive experiences for one night only.

Starting and finishing at The Colonnade Bar at Brighton Theatre Royal, participants will follow a trail through Brighton city centre, discovering activities, performances and surprises along the route.

Activities announced so far include trick or treat experiences, a theatre performance from Wild Elk Productions, a choir performance from Busketeers, a glitter tattoo station, a silent disco with HushBeats, and sound and light installations.

The event is part of The Story Trail, a city-wide sculpture trail featuring BookBench sculptures inspired by stories and storytelling. The trail is raising funds for Amaze, the Sussex charity supporting families of disabled children and young people.

Hannah Allbrooke, Head of Fundraising at Amaze, said:

“Once Upon a Trail gives people a chance to experience The Story Trail in a completely different way. Whether you’ve visited the trail before or are discovering it for the first time, there will be plenty of surprises along the route, with activities, performances and interactive experiences to enjoy together.

“Every ticket sold also helps Amaze continue supporting families of disabled children and young people across Sussex, so by joining us you’ll be helping to make a real difference.”

The event runs from 5pm to 8pm on Wednesday 28 October 2026. Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £4 for children, with discounted tickets available for Compass Card holders. Group tickets are also available.
