What?
Brighton & Hove Buses operate services across: Brighton and Hove, Steyning, Shoreham and Newhaven with longer distance routes to Eastbourne, Lewes, Ringmer and Tunbridge Wells.
Compass Card offer: Compass Card holders aged 18+ who are not studying, who can apply for a Student Keycard, providing student‑price fares on Brighton & Hove Buses.
Accessibility: Audio and visual next‑stop announcements (“Talking Buses”), nboard induction loops, Dementia‑friendly flooring, priority wheelchair bay with separate buggy bay (New buses have two priority wheelchair bays) and access for Class 2 mobility scooters. The Helping Hand Assistance Card offers a discreet way to request additional help from drivers. How?
To apply for a Student Keycard visit either Brighton & Hove Buses Head Office at 43 Conway Street, Hove BN3 3LT or the Travel Hub at 26 North Street, Brighton BN1 1EB. Make sure you take the following with you:
* Compass Card
* Photo ID
* Proof of current address
* Email address
A photo can be taken on site, or you can provide a passport‑sized photo. Once approved, the discounted Keycard will be activated. Afterwards, tickets can be added to your Student Keycard online at www.smartbuses.co.uk or in person at the Head Office or the Travel Hub.
If applying on behalf of a Compass Card holder aged 18 to 25, written evidence of authority is required.
The Keycard discount expires at the same time as the Compass Card and must be reapplied for when the Compass Card is renewed. Please note: a minimum of 12 months remaining on the Compass Card is required to purchase a 12‑month citySAVER or networkSAVER Keycard
