What?
Open until 13 October 2024, Sussex Prairie Garden is surrounded by mature oak trees in an eight-acre garden with a series of large interlocking borders. The borders encourage exploration and adventure, and visitors are welcome to roam among the mighty plants. There is sculpture to enjoy in the garden and an artist in residence exhibition to enjoy in the gallery. There is also a plant nursery selling unusual plants and a kid’s trail in the garden. The garden is open Wednesdays to Sundays, and Bank Holiday Monday 26 August, from 1pm to 5pm. Dogs on leads are welcome and you can bring your own picnic. The teashop is open selling teas, coffee homemade cake and ice creams which you can enjoy throughout the garden. There are no sandwiches or savouries on offer, but you are welcome to bring picnics to enjoy in the garden.
Compass Card offer: One carer is admitted free of charge when accompanying a Compass Card holder. Please note this offer is not available on the ‘Plant Fair’ on 1 September, the Botanical Art Fair’ on 20/21 July, the ‘NGS Charity Garden Open Day’ on 10 September, the ‘Beautiful and Useful Craft Fair’ on the 8 September and the ‘Beautiful and Useful Craft Fair’ on the 14/15 September.
Accessibility: Accessible parking and toilets. The garden and teashop are fully accessible. There is a woodchip path at the entrance to the garden that may be difficult for a short way for large wheelchairs.
