What?

Spectacular hands-on science and discovery among the domes and telescopes of a world famous astronomical observatory. With hundreds of interactive exhibits indoors and outdoors, there’s something for visitors of all ages. The beautiful domes house reflecting and refracting telescopes which you can explore on your own, including the Domes of Discovery Exhibition. The Launch Box catering unit serves hot food such as burgers, fries and hot dogs and The Café serves hot and cold drinks and snacks. There’s an airy marquee with tables and chairs where you can eat as well as picnic tables around the site. There is a microwave available, please speak to staff and use at your own risk. 
Compass Card offer: One carer gets free admission when you show the Compass Card. 
Accessibility: There are steps at reception but wheelchair access is available at the rear of the building alongside the accessible Blue Badge parking bays. Ring the bell if you need help to open the door. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor with height adjustable changing bench and hoist. Interactive exhibits, Domes of Discovery Exhibition (Dome F), Refractor telescope dome (Dome E) and science activities (Geodesic Dome) are accessible and although play equipment is on grass, much of outside is also accessible.

How?

You can book online here if you have a PayPal account and select the ‘carers’ option for the one free carer entry. Pre-booking is no longer essential and you can pay on the day, but it is advisable to ring ahead to check opening times and dates. Make sure you take the Compass Card with you on the day to validate the free carer entry.
