What?

Please note, Newhaven Fort is closed for refurbishment until February 2025.
Newhaven Fort is the last of a long series of defences built on the cliffs overlooking Seaford Bay, dating back to the Iron Age. The current Fort was built in the 1860s. There’s a network of tunnels, ramparts, gun emplacements, stories about how the fort survived two World Wars and much more. There is also a 1940’s themed tea room and gift shop.
General provision: Pay once and visit as many times as you like for a calendar year. Over 16s with additional needs pay the reduced price of £7.95 (usual price £10.55) and under 16s with additional needs pay £4.75 (usual price £7.45).  One free carer per cardholder. Under 4s are admitted free of charge.
Compass Card offer: The Compass Card can be used to trigger the general provision above.
Accessibility:  Accessible toilet. Drop off and pick-up access outside the fort as well as two Blue Badge bays in the Moat area just outside main entrance. Most of Newhaven Fort’s exhibitions and the shop and tea room are accessible, but some of tunnels and ramparts are not accessible. For more information, call before you visit or ask a staff member to help you during your visit.
