Trio Brighton Marathon Runners

Jenny, Jackie and Georgina came together to run the incredible 2025 Brighton Marathon for Amaze. Jenny shared with us the journey it took to get to the marathon together and taking on the challenge itself.
If Jenny, Jackie and Georgina’s story inspires you, entry for the 2026 Brighton Marathon is available now.
Signing up for the Brighton Marathon
The idea for running the Brighton Marathon came from Jenny wanting to do something spectacular for her 50th birthday. Jenny and Jackie have been great friends for years now and run when they can as they both find it helps with their mental health.
“I am also 50 this year and wanted to celebrate by pushing myself and doing a full Marathon. I asked Jackie if she fancied joining me and she said yes.”
The three had been running every Sunday together with Jackie and Jenny being running partners and Georgia being their run leader. After a long Sunday run Jenny asked Georgina if she would like to join them as she had been such a big part of their running journey and she would be great to run for Amaze.
“Running a marathon together is much more fun than on your own!!”
Why did you choose Amaze?
Jenny decided to pick Amaze to be her chosen charity for the race as she has three children with disabilities and have used Amaze a lot over the years for support. She is also friends with Jhuma on our team who knows she enjoys running!
“She is always asking me to run for Amaze and I always say yes as Amaze is a wonderful charity.”
We are so grateful for all the carer’s who get involved and give back through our events, not only does it help raise awareness and raise funds for the charity, but it also helps build our Amaze community.
How was your training experience?
Jenny and Jackie had run a full marathon once before about 3 years ago and was excited to tackle another one. This year the three of them set an original goal of an incredible £1600 but raised my more than they set by surpassing the goal by £1,670!
When asked what it was like jumping from a half to full marathon Jenny said:
“Very hard, as you know it is 2x a half marathon. You gradually build up the distance, but it takes up so much of your life, training at the gym and running. A full marathon is very different to a half marathon.”
How was the Marathon for you?
The experience on the day was described by Jenny as “emotional, scary, hard, extremely hard, exhilarating and amazing all at the same time. Loved the crowds, seeing Amaze on route, the atmosphere.”
As a group of three running such a long distance, it’s impressive that keeping in pace with each other wasn’t an issue “we all run the same pace and kept an eye out for each other. We started together and would finish together; we are a close group.”
What advice would you give to anyone considering running a marathon?
Jenny stated the importance of training consisting of not just running by also gym work, strengthening your bones, eat well, drink well, sleep well and expect to be exhausted. But in the end once your hard work has paid off “the sense of achievement is amazing.”
A big thank you to Jenny, Jackie and Georgina for completing this challenge for Amaze!
