independent support with EHC plans
Independent Support offers parents and young people extra advice and practical support while they go through the process of getting an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
Many children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) benefit from having an EHC Plan which outlines certain goals and outcomes and explains how they will be achieved. Read more about EHC needs assessments and plans.
Independent Supporters offer additional help to make sure a parent carer or young person can be fully involved throughout the EHC process. We work with families in East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove to understand EHC Plans and the process to request one, and then support them to develop and maintain the EHC Plan.
All families who need extra support can have an Independent Supporter and young people aged 16 to 25 may also request an Independent Supporter of their own. Read more about Amaze services for young people.
