Vaccinations for paid carers – available to book now

Personal Assistants (PAs) who provide care to elderly or vulnerable disabled people in Sussex are now eligible for Covid-19 vaccination as frontline health and social care workers in Priority Group 2.

PAs can book appointments at vaccination centres including the Brighton Centre, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Eastbourne District General and the Conquest Hospital, Hastings.

Details about the priority groups and how to book  can be found on this page about the local Sussex Health and Care Partnership workforce vaccination programme.

Eligibility and evidence

Personal Assistants (PA) are individuals employed directly by people who use Direct Payments to arrange and pay for care for themselves or their dependents.

PAs who book an appointment for vaccination will need to attend with their NHS number and staff or work ID if they have it.

Those PAS who do not have a work ID badge will need to take some evidence of their employment to the appointment with them.

In Brighton & Hove, PAs or Direct Payments users can contact the council’s Direct Payments team or local Direct Payment support services, People Plus and Possibility People, to ask for a letter that confirms their eligibility. The letter (in PDF format) will have the name of the PA/employee, not the Direct Payment user, and confirm that the role of a PA is within the eligibility criteria of Priority Group 2.

In East Sussex, PAs should have received information about booking a vaccination from the Vaccination Team. Those PAs who do not have a work ID badge or card should email the Vaccination Team to request a vaccination eligibility letter VaccinationsQueries@eastsussex.gov.uk
