PaCC seeks Vice-Chair

Exciting opportunity with the Brighton & Hove Parent Carers’ Council (PaCC)

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Brighton & Hove?

PaCC is the parent-led forum which represents parents and carers of children and young people with SEND aged 0-25 years old who live in the city.  Set up in 2008, PaCC enables parent carers to work closely together to help improve services and support for local families.

PaCC is a member of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums, a network of over 150 parent carer forums from across England.  PaCC is hosted by Amaze, a local charity that provides information, advice and support to local SEND families.  This includes HR support and Amaze are therefore the employer for this role.

PaCC is recruiting for the role of Vice-Chair, and is looking for an inspiring individual with the ability to influence, encourage and enthuse a wide range of people, from service managers, to funders, to parent carers.  You will work closely with the Chair, Engagement Co-ordinator and members of the PaCC Steering Group to deliver and develop the parent carers’ voice in the city.

 Vice-Chair role details

  • Contract: 14 hours per week, worked flexibly, fixed-term contract until August 2023 (with the possibility of extension)
  • Rate: Hourly rate £14.38-14.86, equivalent to NJC salary pt 23-24, £26,172 – £27,045 pro-rata
  • Location: Brighton & Hove, combination of home-based and working flexibly from Amaze’s office in central Brighton

Lived experience of being a parent carer of a child or young person living in Brighton & Hove with SEND is essential, to ensure a strong understanding of the issues faced by local families, and candidates will ideally have been involved as PaCC members previously. You must also have excellent interpersonal skills, to build relationships and work collaboratively with others.

Interviews will be held during school hours on Wednesday 21 or Thursday 22 July.
