Face 2 Face peer befriending launches in East Sussex
Amaze’s Face 2 Face peer befriending service is launching in East Sussex.
Face 2 Face provides emotional support to parents of disabled children during the very early days, around the time of diagnosis. We have a team of trained befrienders who are ready to support parents in most parts of East Sussex, particularly around Crowborough and Eastbourne.
Our volunteer befrienders have undertaken intensive training and are well equipped to support other parents.
“My Face 2 Face befriender has been an absolute lifeline. Since the diagnosis I have felt very cut off and not wanted to socialise or see anybody. It’s so helpful to have somebody to talk to, who really gets it, during this devastating time,” says one of our former befriendees.
As part of Amaze, the service works together with other services such as SENDIASS.
How the service works: the project worker will come and see you at home and then ‘match’ you to an appropriate befriender. Befriending usually lasts around 6 months but can be shorter or longer, depending on a parent’s needs.
