East Sussex Parent Carer Forum seeks Engagement Co-ordinator
ESPCF is the new forum for parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in East Sussex.
ESPCF’s aim is to ensure that every parent carer in East Sussex feels that their voice, their views and their experiences matter and contribute towards developing and improving services. We do this by reaching out to parent carers to be involved, representing parent carers’ experience and expertise to decision-makers and making recommendations for service improvement.
ESPCF is supported by Amaze, the local charity providing information, advice and support to local SEND families. This includes HR support and Amaze are therefore the employer for this role.
Three new staff roles are being recruited at the same time: ESPCF Chair, Engagement Co-ordinator and Administrative and Communications Assistant. ESPCF funding is confirmed until March 2022, however, employment contracts are being offered initially for one year, intentionally so that ESCPF has the flexibility to adapt and change its staff team as it develops and grows in its first year of operation.
- Contract: 24 hours per week, fixed-term contract until March 2021 in the first instance (with the possibility of extension)
- Rate: £13.99 hour (£25,470 p.a. pro-rata) equivalent to NJC Spinal Point 23-24
- Location: East Sussex, either home-based or working flexibly from Amaze’s Eastbourne office with regular meetings/events across the County
Are you passionate about service user engagement and raising the profile of the needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities, and their parents, in East Sussex?
This key role in the ESPCF team will reach out to involve as many parent carers as possible in ESPCF, to strengthen their voice in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services for their children. You will be responsible for co-ordinating ESPCF’s work plan, developing outreach activities and supporting parent carer representatives.
You will have relevant experience in service user engagement and have a good understanding of the issues that having a child with additional needs can bring. Naturally, your excellent interpersonal skills will mean you have a good track record working in partnership and collaboration with others.
