Amaze’s East Sussex AGM a big success

“People there were really lovely. I enjoyed meeting new people and representing Amazing Futures Eastbourne for other people to find out about what we do.”

Amaze’s first ever AGM in East Sussex took place in December at the Lawn Tennis Association in Eastbourne. It was also our first AGM focused on our direct work with young people as we celebrated our first year of Amazing Futures in East Sussex. The peer supporters, interns and group participants from East Sussex took to the stage to share highlights from their year, proudly talking about the friendships and skills they’ve developed through being part of the project. We also premiered the new Amazing Futures films, featuring some of the exciting activities which have been part of group meetings, all centred around the Five Ways to Wellbeing. The Amazing Me video featured our young people talking about the talents and skills they developed while at school and college.

Yummy food and creative festive crafts were available throughout the evening, and the usual AGM business reported on Amaze’s finances and charity governance, including election of trustees. There were also brief presentations on the other services Amaze provides in East Sussex, including SENDIASS, Looking Forward, Face 2 Face and DLA/PIP support, providing an opportunity for young people, parent carers and other invited guests to find out about our expanding work in the area. We were also pleased to let parents know about the new East Sussex Parent Carer Forum. Amaze is supporting the development of the ESPCF, ensuring parent carers have a strong voice in local services.

Victoria, one of the young people involved in the Amazing Futures project said, ‘People there were really lovely. I enjoyed meeting new people and representing Amazing Futures Eastbourne for other people to find out about it.’
