Amaze seeks Befriending Project Worker (East Sussex)

18 hours per week

Salary: Equivalent NJC 21-22 £25, 445-25,963 pro rata. Amaze hourly rate £13.98-14.27  (based on 35 hours week)

Fixed-term to July 2023, with possibility of extension subject to funding

Amaze is a Sussex-based charity that supports families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Face 2 Face is our parent peer support and befriending service.

We are looking for a warm and well-organised person to join the Face 2 Face team and build a peer support service for parents of children on the neurodevelopmental pathway in East Sussex. You will support volunteer parents to act as befrienders to other parents of disabled children, individually and through groups.

This part of Face 2 Face is new and developing, so you need to be a self-starter who wants to help build the project. You need to be an excellent communicator, who can engage with all sorts of people and has experience of working with groups.

You will have a grasp of the lives and needs of families that include a child with SEND and specifically neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and ADHD and be keen to make a difference. We particularly welcome applications from parent carers and those with lived experience of neurodivergence.

You will work out of Amaze’s Brighton and Eastbourne offices but will need to be able to travel all over East Sussex.

The deadline for applications is 9am on Tuesday 21 June.

Please save Wednesday 29 June for interviews.
