Amaze seeks Amazing Futures East Sussex Project Coordinator

21 hours per week

Location: Eastbourne

Salary: NJC 29 £26,470 pro rata (actual for 21 hours £15,882)

Fixed term contract for one year but with likely extension

Exciting opportunity to set up a new project with well-regarded Sussex charity Amaze. You will have experience of working with young people with additional needs and the development skills to set up and run the Amazing Futures East Sussex Project.

This is a pilot in East Sussex building on Amaze’s experience of running the Amazing Futures peer support project in Brighton & Hove. You will work to improve the confidence, aspirations and life skills of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 14-25 going through the transition to adulthood. The project aims to harness the power of peer support to help young people with SEND move towards positive adult lives. Young people in similar situations can share experiences and those who are one stage further towards adulthood can offer support and be role models. There is an emphasis on fun and shared activities so youth work experience or similar will be an asset. Skills and social networks developed through the project can lead young people with SEND towards employment, volunteering and greater independence.

You will work out of Amaze’s Eastbourne office but be expected to travel across the county and come to the Brighton and Hove office for meetings as required.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 27 July

Interviews will be held on Thursday 2 August in Brighton
